premiere provider of bridesmaids' dresses in Michigan. Six of the nine lines we represent are exclusive in the state to miss kate’s maids.

and time consuming. We are here to help you through this exciting time. Our dedication to the lines over the past years as well as our own
experience as attendees in weddings equips us with an expertise like no other boutique. In addition, we are constantly on the search for the latest

About the store
miss kate’s maids was first opened in April, 2004 as a continuation of the popular women’s clothing store, miss kate, in downtown Birmingham, Michigan.
With the popularity of her store, owner Kate Richard added bridesmaids dresses in her offering as a "by appointment only" service in the back of the
former miss kate store. Kate set up a comfortable living room area, as an oasis for brides to find dresses for their maids that could actually be
worn again. She began carrying just four lines: Thread, Simple Silhouettes, Vanessa Fox and Kathlin Argiro. The store gained popularity through word
of mouth and in-store promotions, so Kate expanded her product offering to include the dress lines Charsa and Coren Moore. Vanessa Fox ultimately went
out of business and Kate picked up Priscilla of Boston, Melissa Sweet and Vineyard Collections to add to the store's offerings.
The store then moved across the street in the loft of Richard’s other store, Shoe La La. In January of 2007, miss kate’s maids moved to its own
location in a charming old townhouse on Maple Road where it remained for one year.
In February 2008, miss kate’s maids moved to its current location at 2121 Cole Street, in the popular Rail District
of Birmingham, Michigan.
About the owner
Kate Richard was born and raised in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and attended Cranbrook School and Miami University in Ohio. After
living out west in both Denver, Colorado and San Francisco, California, In June, 2003, Kate ultimately ventured back home to open her first store: miss kate, a sassy,
stylish and sexy women’s clothing store. With the success of her store and the recommendation of many customers, Kate began carrying bridesmaids'
dresses and eventually opened miss kate’s maids in April, 2004. Shortly thereafter, she expanded and opened Shoe La La across the street. After a
few years in business, Kate moved all of the stores into one space to cut down on overhead due to the declining Michigan economy. During this time,
miss kate’s maids continued to thrive, and Kate recognized a true niche market in offering strictly bridesmaids' dresses - specifically, ones you
could - and would - wear again!
So, in January, 2007 Kate closed miss kate and Shoe La La and re-opened miss kate’s maids down the street. In February 2008, she moved to her
current location at 2121 Cole Street in the Rail District of Birmingham.
Kate is also the Detroit Chapter leader of the national women’s network Ladies Who Launch,
which promotes entrepreneurship and creativity as a lifestyle. She has been mentoring and coaching women entrepreneurs since 2005 through the Ladies
Who Launch Incubator program and continues to grow their network and membership in the area.
In addition, Kate is very active in the southeastern Michigan Birmingham community. She chaired the successful DogTown (2005) and TigerTown (2007)
charity events in conjunction with The Community House. Both events placed uniquely decorated fiberglass animals around the area and then auctioned them
off to raise funds for their outreach programs. Kate chaired the highly esteemed Kingswood Giftorama, a weekend long shopping extravaganza that
benefits her highschool alumnae association, with her sister, Meg Ferron, owner of the The Fuchsia
Frog, for 3 years straight. Overall, Kate has raised millions of dollars for her community and continues to be actively involved in a variety of local
charities.
Kate lives in Birmingham with her 3 dogs and loves spending time with her family - including 12 nieces and nephews.
About your appointment
When you come in for your first appointment, we invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy the presentation of our lines of dresses.
To tell you a bit about our process and help you pick the most perfect style for you, we recommend viewing all of our lines first, and then
determining what your ultimate dress choice is. You will have one-on-one personalized service at your appointment, which allows us the
opportunity to show you each line thoroughly. We then arrange tailoring of your dress so it suits your maids, and your dream day, perfectly.
If there is something you don’t like initially, don’t be afraid to tell us. We are here to serve you, and very much look forward to helping
you with all of your needs. However, keep an open mind - what you may not like initially might be perfect on your maids and fit your visualization.

You may view our dress lines on our designers page to familiarize yourself with our brands before your initial appointment.
After your appointment, your consultant will be in touch and can provide you with any pricing, fabric swatches, additional appointments or any other
advice and help you might need. We will work incredibly closely with you to ensure you make the right choice for you, your maids, your budget and your
vision. We will ask that your maids come to us for measurements, or we can provide you with a measurement
card that outlines the information required to ensure the best fit for your maids. Once you give us your maids’ contact information, you are done!
We will do the follow up and due diligence in tracking down their measurements and payment information. Once that is complete, you can sit back and
relax until the dresses arrive!
